Rowan Hine

Having experience as both a gardener and a landscape designer, I set up Rowan Landscape to bridge the gap between the two. I felt many people lacked the resources or the desire to undergo a full garden redesign, but needed direction on how to use plants to get the most from their space. Old, tired borders, forgotten about corners and stale new build gardens can all thrive with the introduction of intentional planting.

I graduated with a Distinction in MA Landscape Architecture from the University of Sheffield, and since then have built experience as a gardener for the National Trust and as a landscape architect in private practice. I now run a garden development business based in North Yorkshire where I am working with clients to maintain and develop their beautiful gardens.

My ethos is simple - Plants should shape and define the garden - not be a second thought as they often are. They set the mood, tone and pace. My style is soft, natural and draws heavy inspiration from the wonderful natural landscapes of the UK and further afield. I seek to understand the site fully and produce a planting scheme that is completely at home, whether that be lush woodland planting, elegant herbaceous borders or dry medditeranean gravel gardens.
